Jump-start your school year with an evening of refreshments and learning! Join us at the Museum of the City of New York for a FREE open house with tours, prizes, and more!

When: September 18, 2024, 3pm – 6:30pm

Where: Museum of the City of New York

At the Open House you'll get to: 

  • Learn how you can use New York City’s past, present, and future to inspire your students to consider their own role in shaping the city
  • Explore our NEW exhibitions and preview this year’s field trips for grades PK-12: upcoming field trips:
    • Arte en Nueva York: Marvel at the visual storytelling of El Barrio’s own artist and mosaicist Manny Vega in our bilingual field trip Byzantine Bembé
    • Civics: Celebrate the life and legacy of Brooklyn-born politician Shirley Chisholm, the first Black woman elected to US Congress in our newest exhibition, Changing the Face of Democracy: Shirley Chisholm at 100
    • Try your hand at NYC trivia or relax with some art-making as you learn about student engagement activities, field trips, our upcoming educator programs, and resources you can bring into your classroom
    • Plus! Enter for a chance to win a FREE field trip for your class! Learn about professional learning opportunities at the museum.

Giveaways and refreshments for all attendees. 

Bring a friend, bring a colleague! While this free event is geared toward educators, it is open to all. Registration encouraged. Drop-in's welcome.
