About the Speaker:
Margaret Connors McQuade is a native New Yorker. She is currently the Director of Collections at the Museum of the City of New York, a position she began in September of this year. Previously, she was the Deputy Director and Head of Collections at the Hispanic Society Museum & Library, where she worked for over 30 years. She received her Ph.D. from the Graduate Center at the City University of New York in 2005. In 1999, she curated the exhibition, Talavera Poblana: Four Centuries of a Mexican Ceramic Tradition at the Americas Society in New York; and in 2005 she curated, Alcora in New York / Alcora en Nueva York: Spendor of the 18th centuries, which was shown at the Museu de Belles Arts de Castello as well as the Museu de Belles Arts de Valencia. She has contributed to a number of exhibitions, including, Treasures from the Hispanic Society Museum & Library, which opened at the Prado Museum in 2017 and traveled to 7 subsequent venues in the US and abroad.
