Join us for an evening with Dr. Ned Blackhawk, Howard R. Lamar Professor of History and American Studies at Yale University and an enrolled member of the Te-Moak Tribe of Western Shoshone Indians of Nevada. Dr. Blackhawk is the author and co-editor of four books in Native American and Indigenous history, including Violence over the Land: Indians and Empires in the early American West. His articles and review essays have appeared in the New York Times Book Review, American Quarterly,The American Historical Review, Ethnohistory,  Reviews in American History, and The American Indian Culture and Research Journal, among others. In this intimate conversation, Blackhawk will discuss his latest book, The Rediscovery of America: Native Peoples and the Unmaking of U.S. History, winner of the National Book Award for Nonfiction.  

The  Robert A. and Elizabeth R. Jeffe Distinguished Lectures in Urban History is the Museum of the City of New York’s premiere annual series, in which leading observers apply insights from disciplines including history, sociology, the arts, and architecture, examines New York City's ongoing evolution. Past speakers include authors Qian Julie Wang, Dr. Jeffrey C. Stewart, Colson Whitehead, Dr. Jill Jonnes, and John Turturro.
