NYC Discovery Lab September – Transportation and the City

Join us on weekends in September as we honor the 120th birthday of the New York City subway with drop-in activities for kids ages 5-12 and adults!
Dates: Every Saturday and Sunday in September
Time: Drop-in anytime between 11am-4pm
In this month’s NYC Discovery Lab, learn how transportation in the city has evolved across the centuries - from the canoe to the horse-drawn streetcar to the subway.
- Pick up a scavenger hunt to explore artworks and historical objects throughout the Museum that reflect different modes of transportation, like the elevated train and the streetcars.
- Build your own elevated train car and discover the impact the El had on NYC.
- Explore – and touch! - historic artifacts related to transportation in the city.
NYC Discovery Lab is free with Museum admission.
Museum Admission:
- Free for ages 18 and under
- Adults $23/Seniors $18 & Students/$14 – please purchase a ticket online or pay-what-you-wish at the door on the day of your visit. No registration necessary.
