Did you know that while NYC is surrounded by water, most of our drinking water is sourced from upstate reservoirs? Stop by the NYC Discovery Lab to learn about the city’s water story – from 18th century reservoirs to present-day protection efforts – and explore how the city’s water features and habits have changed over time.

Saturdays and Sundays 11am to 4pm.

Explore New York’s water story through:

  • A water feature matching activity that explores the various mechanisms in the built environment that connect to the city’s water systems;
  • A water tower coloring sheet that sheds light on the importance of this vital structure to the water supply; and
  •  A gallery-based activity that explores a water pipe used in the late 18th century as part of the city’s water supply.

NYC Discovery Lab August programs are from August 3rd to August 31st.
