Diwali Family Celebration

Light up your day and celebrate the Hindu Festival of Lights at the Museum. Diwali, a holiday celebrated by many communities across the world, signifies the triumph of good over darkness. Enjoy a special interactive performance by Macaulay Deewane, decorate a diya (clay oil lamp) to take home, and savor a traditional Indian treat. All families and friends are welcome.

Macaulay Deewane, CUNY’s premier Bollywood Fusion Dance Team, seeks to promote Bollywood Fusion Dance and South Asian culture through performing and competing at the collegiate level. Showcasing talent from all five boroughs of New York City, Macaulay Deewane combines elements of traditional as well as modern art forms to produce eclectic performances. The team has broadcasted their talents to venues all along the East Coast, and strives to expand its exposure by continuing to compete and perform throughout the country.
Family programs are free with Museum admission and free for Members, geared to families with children ages 6–12 years old, and include a snack. Activities are designed for adults and children to complete together.
