Encores! Behind the Curtain @ MCNY
This winter, the Museum of the City of New York partners with storied New York City Center. Dedicated by Mayor Fiorello La Guardia in 1943, City Center was Manhattan’s very first performing arts center. It was here that George Balanchine established the New York City Ballet and, later, where Leonard Bernstein conducted his own orchestra for the first time. To celebrate their 75th anniversary season, we'll present three unique evenings of talk and song that invite leading Broadway performers, creators, and commentators to offer fresh perspectives on fascinating but little-known Broadway musicals. Inspired by City Center's Tony-honored Encores! musical theater series, each program will delve into one of the three performances taking place in their distinctive neo-Moorish Midtown theater this season.
