The Museum of the City of New York is thrilled to present Brooklyn: The City Within, an exhibition of photographs by Alex Webb and Rebecca Norris Webb. Featuring more than thirty photographs made since 2014, the resulting work is a collaborative series that explores the borough they have called home for some 20 years.
The Museum, in conjunction with the artists, is delighted to offer a set of two photographs, in a limited edition of 15: Brooklyn Heights (Alex Webb) and Shimmering, Prospect Park (Rebecca Norris Webb). The purchase of these 11” x 14” signed, editioned photographs will support the exhibition.
It is said that one in every eight U.S. families had relatives that came through Brooklyn at one time or another. It is from this point of inspiration that Alex, a member of Magnum Photos since 1979, has sought to canvas Brooklyn with an emphasis on exploring its tremendous cultural diversity. Meanwhile, Rebecca decided to capture “the green city within the city within the city,” the green heart of Brooklyn—the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, Green-Wood Cemetery, and Prospect Park. Geographically, these three large green spaces lie in the center of Brooklyn and provide a contemplative core for this body of work.
Photographs are priced at $2,500 (for the set of 2), plus shipping. Shipping costs will vary according to destination; the Museum will give you a shipping estimate once you have provided your shipping address. $1,000 of your total contribution of $2,500 will be tax-deductible.
