Explore how illumination shaped the modern city.

Transformed by Light: The New York Night reveals how illumination shaped the legend and experience of the 24-hour city. The exhibition immerses visitors in a series of environments that portray the essential role of light in the construction of New York life--on the street, at home, in the office, on the town. Artifacts range from Rockefeller Tree bulbs to a giant neon 'i' that once towered over Columbus Circle. The exhibition features state-of-the-art lighting by ten contemporary design firms.
