Become a Friend of Corduroy
Fifty years ago, author and illustrator Don Freeman introduced the world to a lovable teddy bear in Corduroy that has been delighting audiences for generations. During his lifetime, Freeman wrote and illustrated more than 50 children’s books, bringing to life characters that also called New York City “home.”
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the publication of his classic children's book, the Museum of the City of New York will present A City for Corduroy: Don Freeman’s New York this November.
The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) has made a matching grant challenge to the exhibition. To help match these funds, the Museum is offering the opportunity to become a “Friend of Corduroy” by donating $50 or more. Make your donation by October 31 to be invited to a sneak preview and reception before the exhibition opens to the public.
A City for Corduroy: Don Freeman’s New York is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts. Additional support provided by The Angelo Family Charitable Foundation; and Suellyn and Ted Scull.
