MCNY 100: Centennial Celebration Weekend
Join us for a weekend-long celebration of the Museum of the City of New York’s 100th birthday!
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13
Friday night takes us back to the “Roaring Twenties,” the decade the Museum was founded. We kick off the festivities with Tin Pan Alley Hits of the '20s, a concert spotlighting stories about the popular songwriters who emerged from Tin Pan Alley on 28th Street, with performances by Aisha de Haas and Robert Lamont.
The Jazz Age celebration continues at our Uptown Jazz Speakeasy featuring Dandy Wellington and his seven-piece jazz band. Be sure to don your best 1920's attire and dancing shoes as we step back in time for an evening of jazz-age swinging and fun, with a modern twist!
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 14
At 10am Saturday morning, we'll delve into our Keys to the City Scavenger Hunt: On Location in New York. Teams will solve cinematic clues in connection with the Museum's centennial exhibition, This is New York, and experience NY stories as told by directors, screenwriters, and cinematographers. Afterward, the winning teams will be crowned and toasted back at the Museum. Raindate: Sunday, 10/15.
Plus! The first 100 visitors each hour on Saturday will receive a FREE Amy’s Bread cupcake – our birthday gift to you!
