Planned Giving

A growing number of generous friends are helping the Museum of the City of New York secure its future by making a planned gift or bequest to the Museum. There are many creative and flexible ways to provide a lasting legacy, enriching the lives of generations to come.

The tax laws may help you accomplish multiple goals with your money and provide for both your heirs and the Museum. Below are some opportunities to combine philanthropy with your financial planning.

New Amsterdam Society

Founded to recognize those friends and Members who have provided for the Museum in their estate plans through one or more of the following:

Bequests

Bequest are deductible from the total value of your estate. They can be designated for specific programs or departments or can be left to the Museum for use at the discretion of Museum Trustees.

Life Income Plans

These include a number of giving vehicles that enable you to make a gift to the Museum that also provides income to you.

Charitable Lead Trusts

Through this type of deferred gift, you may be able to transfer assets to an heir while providing income to the Museum.

Other Gifts

Gifting of retirement assets, life insurance, and real property can also be used to support the Museum.
