Join us at the Museum this fall for a special series of live, outdoor performances featuring local puppeteers, educators, and performance groups.  

All of the performances and workshops will be held in person on the Museum’s beautiful, outdoor terrace. Families can enjoy the performances and then visit the Puppets of New York exhibition to explore the extraordinary creative and diverse stories of puppets in NYC.

Revisiting the Harlem Renaissance

The Robert A. and Elizabeth R. Jeffe Distinguished Lectures in Urban History

Dive into the Harlem Renaissance in this four-part series of live virtual talks with Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Jeffrey C. Stewart. Stewart will begin each session with an illustrated presentation exploring a different major art form -- from poetry and visual art to theater -- of this famous movement in African-American arts and culture, followed by a conversation with a special guest (plus time at the end for Q & A).

Your Hometown - Podcast

Your Hometown is an innovative new live event and podcast series conceived and hosted by historian Kevin Burke. The first season of this audio offering, a co-presentation between Kevin Burke Productions and MCNY, focuses on New York City as a hometown and features prominent New Yorkers—representing a range of backgrounds, neighborhoods, and industries—sharing never-before-heard details of their formative years growing up in and around the five boroughs.

New York Responds: The First Six Months includes photographs, artworks, audio, video, and artifacts documenting New Yorkers’ response to the crisis of COVID-19 and their uprising against structural racism. It covers the events of March 1 to September 1, 2020, and it is the digital companion to the physical exhibition that opened at the Museum of the City of New York on December 18, 2020.
