Before Central Park: Uncovering the Fort Landscape
Tuesday, September 16 at 6:30 pm
Central Park's rugged northern landscapes offer one of the few remaining windows into the original terrain of New York City. The area known as the Fort Landscape includes rocky overlooks where soldiers built fortifications during the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. Join us for a presentation on the Fort Landscape that integrates new discoveries about its history, spanning the past 200 years. Presenters include Steven H. Jaffe, Ph.D, Curator and historian at the City Museum; Richard W. Hunter, Ph.D., President and Principal Archaeologist at Hunter Associates; and Sara Cedar Miller, Official Historian and Photographer for Central Park Conservancy. A reception will follow.
Co-presented with the Central Park Conservancy.
$15 for Museum and Central Park Conservancy Members; $25 general public.
