The City Museum offers special educational programs on weekends and after school for middle and high-school students who want to dig deeper into New York City and its history and to build their skills and resumes.

  • Courses for Kids

    Join us for multi-session afterschool digital photography and fashion classes for students, culminating with a Museum exhibition of their work. Supplies are provided for use during the course.

  • NYC History Day

    Middle- and high-school students undertake creative history research projects, culminating in the regional competition for National History Day. Find out how to participate in this year's NYC History Day!

  • Dance Culture in New York City

    This free elective for students in grades 8–12 takes place on Saturdays October 29, November 5, 12, December 3, 10 and 17 and features dance movement, discussions, film clips, and oral history exercises.

  • Saturday Academy

    Saturday Academy is a free, six-week program offering courses on SAT preparation and a variety of American History topics for students in grades 8–12.

  • Internship Program

    This exciting new initiative trains young adults from underserved communities to lead summer groups’ field trips to the City Museum, introducing them to the study and practice of museum education and providing them with professional experience.
