"City as Canvas" at Comic Con
On October 11th, the City Museum’s Curator of Prints and Photographs, Sean Corcoran, joined graffiti artists Daze, Lady Pink, Stash, and Reas at New York’s Comic Con at the Jacob Javits Center to sign copies of the Museum's new publication City as Canvas: New York Graffiti from the Martin Wong Collection. An exhibition of the Museum's Martin Wong Collection of graffiti art will open in February 2014.

New York After Dark
The Director's Council of the Museum of the City of New York held its annual New York After Dark party in the Pool Room of the Four Seasons Restaurant on October 8. The party raised $375,000 for the City Museum.

Susan Henshaw Jones honored by Associates of the Art Commission
On October 1, the Associates of the Art Commission, which promotes design excellence in the public realm, honored Susan Henshaw Jones, the Museum of the City of New York's Ronay Menschel Director, with its Bedrock Award, given annually to an individual or organization that has made notable contributions to the cultural life of New York City. Ronay Menschel, Vice Chairman of the City Museum's Board, presented the award at a dinner at the Surrogate's Court.
Opening Celebration for Picturing Central Park
On September 12, 2013, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg was on hand to celebrate the opening of Picturing Central Park: Paintings by Janet Ruttenberg. He was joined by James G. Dinan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the City Museum; Kate D. Levin, Commissioner of the Department of Cultural Affairs; Doug Blonsky, President and CEO of the Central Park Conservancy and Central Park Administrator; special guests, including Oscar de La Renta, and Museum members to enjoy this exhibition of Ruttenberg’s monumental and joyful images capturing the natural and human beauty of this iconic New York landscape.

Visit to Four Freedoms Park
On September 5 and 11, 2013, members of the Museum of the City of New York's Board of Trustees, Alexander Hamilton Circle, and Women's Committee were treated to special twilight tours of the FDR Four Freedoms Park at the southern tip of Roosevelt Island.
