I Spy New York: Capturing the City Through the Camera
A Digital Photography Class for Students in the 2nd and 3rd Grades

The Museum of the City of New York is offering students a rare opportunity to practice photography and collaborate with Museum professionals to create an exhibition of their work. Drawing inspiration from the Museum’s renowned photography collection and working under the direction of a professional photographer, each student will photograph the major elements of the city, including its buildings, parks, and people. Each student will select one photograph at the end of the class to print professionally and include in a student exhibition at the Museum. Friends and family will be invited to the opening.

For an enrollment fee of $600, this 6-week course includes:

  • Use of professional digital cameras
  • Field trips
  • Printing, matting and framing of photo by the student
  • An exhibition of student photographs with reception
  • All materials! Cyanotype paper, negatives, inkjet paper, mats, and more
  • Behind the scenes access to the Museum collection and photography studio
  • Password-protected access for parents to view student photos
  • Small class size with 2 teachers
